Phytoremediation
The plant roots absorb substances, including VOC gases, from the air and use part of them as nutrients. The ventilation of Aura walls pushes the pollutants towards the roots.
Photosynthesis
We all learned in school that photosynthesis is the process by which plant leaves absorb carbon dioxide and transform it into oxygen with the help of light. This can work even under artificial light!
Biofiltration
Microorganisms near plant roots feed on pollutants trapped in the substrate. The plants in Aura’s green walls are grown in Aura Mix, fostering this ecosystem.
Solubilization
The remaining pollutants after the biofiltration process are neutralized by the water. The automated daily irrigation of Aura’s green breathing walls ensures their proper disposal.

Are Aura's breathing green walls just for aesthetics?
Unlike standard green walls, Aura’s walls are “breathing” systems, and among the very few of their kind worldwide.
In addition to serving a decorative function like traditional green walls, Aura walls actively purify indoor air thanks to an engineered ventilation system and a biofilter composed of the patented Aura Mix substrate and a selection of carefully chosen plants.
Does a potted plant purify the air as well as an Aura breathing wall?
According to performance tests, one breathing green wall from Aura with 64 plants purifies as much air as about 160 potted plants.
This performance is made possible by the engineered fan system and, above all, the biofilter—a synergy of the patented Aura Mix substrate and a carefully selected range of plants —which amplifies the plants’ natural ability to purify the air by capturing pollutants and directing airflow toward the root zone, where contaminants are filtered and neutralized.
Is Aura’s purification system artificial?
Aura’s breathing green walls purify the air in an almost entirely natural way.
The only artificial element is the mechanical ventilation, while the biofilter is made exclusively of real plants and organic substances.
Do Aura breathing green walls create humidity?
