Nature
Biophilia: The Innate Attraction to Nature
The term biophilia was introduced by biologist Edward O. Wilson in the 1980s to describe theinnate human attraction to nature and living forms.
Numerous studies show that proximity to or contact with natural elements, such as plants, wood, or stone, provides tangible benefits to mental and physical health: they improve mood, reduce stress, and strengthen the immune system.
We are born to live in natureyet urbanization has led us to spend over 90% of our days in indoor environments.
This is where biophilic design comes into play in architecture and urban planning: integrating natural elements into built spaces, such as plants, water, natural light, and organic materials, to create healthier and more stimulating environments.

Natural Purification
The purification process of Aura's green breathing walls amplifies four natural processes:

Phytoremediation
The plant roots absorb substances, including VOC gases, from the air and use part of them as nutrients. The ventilation of Aura walls pushes the pollutants towards the roots.

Photosynthesis
We all learned in school that photosynthesis is the process by which plant leaves absorb carbon dioxide and transform it into oxygen with the help of light. What we didn't know is that this process can also be activated with artificial light!

Biofiltration
Microorganisms naturally present near the plant roots feed on the pollutants captured by the substrate. The plants in Aura’s green breathing walls are grown in the Aura Mix substrate, which encourages the development of this ecosystem.

Solubilization
The remaining pollutants after the biofiltration process are neutralized by the water. The automated daily irrigation of Aura’s green breathing walls ensures their proper disposal.
Selected plants
Each Aura green wall is primarily composed of Pothos, chosen for its resilience and high, versatile air-purifying capacity. On request, the modules of your Sphera or Silva can be enriched with a mix of Pothos and other selected plants.

Epipremnum Aureum
Comunemente chiamato Pothos è noto per la sua capacità di rimuovere VOC come formaldeide, benzene e xilene dall'aria.

Monstera Adansonii
The Monstera Adansonii helps remove VOCs like benzene and formaldehyde.

Calathea Makoyana
The Calathea Makoyana is particularly effective in purifying ethylbenzene.

Filodendro Green Princess
The Philodendron Green Princess is effective in removing VOCs such as formaldehyde, benzene, and trichloroethylene.

Alocasia Red Secret
Alocasia Red Secret can filter toxins like benzene and formaldehyde.

Alocasia Dragon Scale
L’Alocasia Dragon Scale è un ottimo alleato nella rimozione di tossine e purificazione dell’ambiente.

Alocasia Polly
Alocasia Polly is suitable for removing ammonia, formaldehyde, and xylene.
Aura continues to test the effectiveness of other plants to expand its offering and meet the needs and preferences of all customers. The selection of certain plants may affect delivery times of the green wall.
